Denied Credit

Have you recently applied for a loan or new credit card, only to be denied? Some reasons are obvious — for example, lenders look disparagingly at multiple late payments, defaults, a foreclosure, a short sale or a bankruptcy in your recent past. But whether or not you’re clear on the reasons, the Fair Credit Reporting Act requires the credit card company or lender in question to provide an explanation along with a free credit report. If the lender obtained a copy of your credit report from Experian, log on to Experian’s Report Access and click on “Get my report now” (or call 1-888-EXPERIAN).
