Bank of America takes the top spot for banking mobile app satisfaction, according to the 2025 U.S. Banking Mobile App Satisfaction Study by J.D. Power. Here's how the top five banking mobile apps stack up and why they lead the pack.

1. Bank of America
After taking a back seat to Capital One in 2024, Bank of America returned to the top spot with a 678-point rating. The app carries an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars in the App Store, as well as 4.6 out of 5 stars in the Google Play Store.
On the main dashboard, you'll be able to view all of your accounts and balances. You'll also be able to see your net worth based on your accounts with the bank and its investment arm, Merrill Lynch, and view your FICO® ScoreΘ.
At the bottom of the screen, you'll have the option to deposit checks, pay bills, transfer money and send cash via Zelle. You can also take advantage of cash back offers through BankAmeriDeals.
Once you tap on your account, you can view recent transactions and review past monthly statements. If you have questions, you can chat with the bank's virtual assistant, Erica. If you want to chat with a human representative, though, you'll be directed to the customer service phone line.
2. PNC
After taking dead last in J.D. Power's 2024 study, PNC's mobile app made a dramatic leap to second place this year with a rating of 675. The regional bank, which only has branches in 28 states, has an average App Store rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars, and also an average of 4.5 out of 5 stars in the Google Play Store.
On the main dashboard, you'll be able to see your different account balances, including your scheduled expenses, giving you a better idea of how much you have to spend. Other actions you can take with your mobile app include:
- Review recent transactions
- Pay bills
- Make mobile check deposits
- Transfer funds to other bank accounts
- Send and receive money using Zelle
- Manage your debit cards, including locking and unlocking
- Locate the nearest PNC branch or ATM
- Check upcoming payments and paydays

- Manage automatic transfers to savings
With the bank's Paze feature, you can create virtual card numbers to make online purchases, so you don't have to worry about revealing your primary debit or credit card number.
3. Chase
For the third year in a row, the Chase mobile app was ranked third with a rating of 673 points. In the App Store, the app has an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars, compared to 4.5 out of 5 stars in the Google Play Store.
When you log in to the app, you'll have a bird's eye view of your account balances. You can also do the following:
- Open a new account
- Track credit card rewards (if applicable)
- Add cash back deals to your debit card with Chase Offers
- Check your VantageScore® credit score through Chase Credit Journey
- Track spending habits
- Pay bills

4. Capital One
After taking the top spot in 2024, the Capital One mobile app slid to fourth in 2025, earning a rating of 668 points out of 1,000—that's slightly below the industry average. The app has an impressive average rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars in the Apple App Store, as well as 4.5 out of 5 stars in the Google Play Store.
When you first log in, you'll be able to see available balances for all of your accounts (the bank allows you to open multiple savings accounts for individual savings goals). Once you tap on an account, you'll be able to do the following:
- View pending and completed transactions
- Review automatic transfers
- Pay bills
- Deposit a check with your device
- Review past statements
- Transfer funds
- Send money with Zelle
- Lock your debit card
Select the Offers icon at the bottom, and you'll be able to see various offers from retailers. These are mostly for online shopping, but there are some in-store deals.
If you have a question, you can chat with Capital One's virtual assistant, Eno. However, there's no live chat option with a human representative.
5. Wells Fargo
In fifth place, the Wells Fargo mobile app has a rating of 665. Despite its lower ranking, however, the bank's mobile app has a solid average rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars in the App Store and 4.8 out of 5 stars in the Google Play Store.
In the app's dashboard, you can view balances for each account, open a new account, view your FICO® Score and set and track different money goals. The app also allows you to do the following:

When comparing bank options, you might be more interested in the account features than the mobile app. However, a poor mobile experience can impact your ability to manage your everyday finances, so it's important to know what you're getting.
Here are some features to pay attention to as you research financial institutions:
- Simple dashboard: Get a sense of how easy it is to get basic information about your accounts and other features, such as your credit score, other account options and spending insights.
- Security features: In most cases, you'll be able to set up biometric authentication, such as facial recognition or fingerprint scans, making it easier to access your account quickly. However, you'll also want to consider how easy it is to lock and unlock your debit card, dispute transactions and access other features to protect your account.
- Ease of use: Once you're in your account, consider how easy it is to complete basic banking functions, such as paying bills, transferring money, creating alerts, depositing checks and finding past statements. The easier it is, the better.
- Other products and services: Try to understand what else you can do in addition to managing your bank account.
