My area of responsibility is the entire acquisitions account lifecycle process for the Kohl's charge portfolio as well as the credit policy and ensuring that we are compliant with regulations.
One of our biggest challenges is trying to stay ahead of what the regulation is doing and where the credit card industry is going. Even though reform was enacted in early 2010, there’s still a lot coming down the pipe. We need to understand how that’s going to impact our business and our organization to ensure that we can still deliver what our customers are looking for.
Of the Experian solutions that we’ve implemented, the primary one is going to be data. We’ve been a great partner and client of Experian for several years. They’re our primary source for data from credit scores to bankruptcy scores and other software that we’ve implemented, which includes the SRS strategy reporting studio as well as authentication for our online applications.
To partner with Experian, in the way I look at it, the way I communicate within our organization, is that they’re one of our premier partners. We really don’t consider ourselves clients. When I speak about Experian, I speak about partnership. They really understand what we’re looking for and the challenges we face. We put our minds together to figure out the best way to attack that challenge, with the ultimate goal being to make sure that we service our customers the best we can.
As far as results, they’ve all been positive. We always look for the best return. The primary thing for Kohl's as a retailer is to make sure that we service our customers; that comes at the forefront for us. So we’re always looking at how we can provide the service that our customers are looking for and finding the right solution to accomplish that.
