As the global leader in the credit business, it is our responsibility to assist lenders in managing consumer credit risk and, importantly, to empower consumers to understand and responsibly use credit in their financial lives. These responsibilities require a commitment – a commitment from us to play a leading role in helping consumers understand the fundamentals of credit management and how they can benefit from this growing marketplace reliant upon credit.
- Almost 25 years ago, Experian became the first credit bureau to create a consumer education program. Experian believes that a knowledgeable consumer is an empowered consumer. We have a long and continuing commitment to helping people of all ages obtain the knowledge they need to be financially successful.
- For two decades now, we have published Ask Experian, the industry’s first online credit advice column. We've been responding regularly since 1997 to consumer-submitted questions about credit reporting, credit scoring, fraud and identity theft, and other topics.

- We seek powerful partnerships with businesses, consumer organizations, educators and others to share accurate, actionable information. Experian awards about $500,000 annually to nonprofit organizations developing innovative programs that help people become more financially capable.
- We empower our employees to be education ambassadors, volunteering their time to participate in education programs for consumer groups and the communities where they live and work.
