Negative Information

Because your credit report is meant to be a thorough and complete portrait of you credit history, negative information can sometimes appear on it. This negative information may be from current or past accounts.

Types of Negative Information on Credit Reports:

  • Late payments
  • Non-payments
  • Mortgage, auto, or other loan defaults
  • Bankruptcies
  • Tax liens
  • Civil judgments

Paying off a debt or bringing an account current doesn’t automatically remove the negative information from your credit report. Paying your bills on time every month is the best way to manage your credit history and score.
