Early Careers Application Process

There are just four stages to our application process, each designed to bring out your skills, talent and potential

CV Application

All applications are managed online. You can explore current openings via the ‘live vacancies’ section on our website.

When you find a role that interests you, simply apply to get started with your application. We’ll ask you to upload your CV, provide some basic personal details, and answer a few basic questions. Cover letters are optional.

Online Assessments

As part of our application process, you will be invited to complete an online assessment. These assessments are designed to help us get to know you better—your strengths, your thinking style, and how you approach different types of challenges.

They’re a great opportunity to showcase your abilities beyond your CV.

Video Interview

The third stage of our application process is a one-way, pre-recorded video interview. You’ll be asked a series of short questions, each with a set time limit to respond.

The video interview plays an important role and helps us get to know you on a more personal and professional level.

Assessment Centre

The final stage of our application process is an Assessment Centre, which typically lasts around 4 hours.

During this session, you can expect to:

  • Be introduced to the team
  • Take part in a small group exercise
  • Have the chance to network with current students
  • Participate in a competency-based interview

This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about us, while we get to know you better too.

UK Early Careers

Creating a strong CV is a key step in making a great first impression. Here are some tips to help you stand out:

-          Do your research: We know that applying for roles can feel daunting, and AI platforms such as ChatGPT can be helpful when you're getting started. They can support you in structuring your CV, tailoring your application, and presenting your experience more clearly and confidently. However, over-reliance on AI can lead to applications that feel generic or overly polished, often filled with buzzwords but lacking authenticity. We want to hear your voice and understand your motivations, so AI should only be used thoughtfully and as support tool. To strengthen your application, we recommend exploring a range of resources to deepen your understanding of the role and our business such as the Experian website, our social media, Google and Linkedin.

-          Tailor your CV: Make sure your CV is relevant to the role - let your passion for the opportunity shine through! Highlight the skills and experiences that match the job description to make it clear for our team to see why you’re applying for the opportunity.

-          Get the basics right: Format, grammar, and layout matter. A clean, well-structured CV shows attention to detail and professionalism.

-          Use your support network: Many colleges and universities have Employability Teams who can help you review and improve your CV. Take advantage of their expertise!

Our online assessments are designed to help us get to know you better—your strengths, your thinking style, and how you approach different types of challenges. You’ll receive full details about what these involve when you're invited to this stage, but to help you prepare:

  • Try out some free practice aptitude or behavioural tests to get comfortable with the format.
  • When you take the assessment find a quiet space, check your tech setup, and give yourself time to focus.

Video Interviews play an important role and help us get to know you on a more personal and professional level. Our Early Careers team review all video interview submissions. Here are some tips to help you stand out:

-          Research the company and role in advance: We want to understand why you want to join Experian and the role you’re applying to

-          Don’t use AI tools to generate answers: We’re not looking for the perfect answer and we want to see your authentic self.

-          Check your equipment: the video interview platform will usually allow you to check that your camera and microphone are working before you begin recording.

If you reach this stage, take a moment to applaud your success! To help you prepare for this stage:

-          Refresh yourself on what you know about Experian, and the role you've applied to.

-          If you are unclear on something, simply ask ahead of the day – we’re always happy to answer questions!

-          Revisit your CV and consider examples where you've showcased transferable skills.

-          Prepare for your interview and role play appropriate responses.
