How to Migrate Your E-Verify Account to Login.gov

by Legislative Update 2 min read May 15, 2025

To improve security and protect your personal and organizational data, E-Verify is now using Login.gov for account access. This change introduces multi-factor authentication (MFA), which adds an extra layer of protection to your login process.

What’s Changing with E-Verify?

E-Verify is an internet-based system in the United States administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in partnership with the Social Security Administration (SSA) allowing employers to verify employment eligibility of newly hired employees. The system was created to make it easier for employers to verify employment authorization and avoid penalties related to hiring undocumented workers.

Now, instead of logging in directly to E-Verify, you will now sign in using Login.gov, a secure government-wide login system. This means you will need to link your account to a Login.gov account.

Effective Date
