Diverse supplier and small business classifications

To be considered a diverse supplier, a company must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a for-profit enterprise, regardless of size, that’s located in the United States or one of its trust territories that is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by one or more U.S. citizens that identify as an ethnic minority, woman or veteran, LGBTQ+ or person with disabilities
  • Be recognized by a certifying agency as shown in our “Get Certified” section below or by other federal or state agencies
  • Other certifications may be recognized on a case-by-case basis

For a company to be considered a small business, they must meet the following basic qualifications:

  • Be a for-profit enterprise that operates primarily in the United States or makes a significant contribution to the U.S. economy through payment of taxes or use of U.S. products, materials or labor
  • Be certified by and eligible for assistance from the Small Business Administration
  • Meet the numerical size standards defined in the Small Business Size Regulations
