Information Verification Process
Your company has been denied credit by your local banker due to some information on your Experian Business Credit Report. What do you do now? The first step is to request a copy of your Experian detailed credit report.
When you receive your company's detailed report it will include a Request for Investigation form. If you believe any information on your company's credit report is incorrect, please fill out the form and return it to Experian.
Once we receive the request for investigation from your company, the Experian Commercial Relations department will conduct an investigation for you.
The basic steps of our investigation process are as follows:
- We identify the company or court that reported the disputed information.
- We put an indicator on your company's Experian detailed credit report for the duration of the investigation that shows the information is being investigated.
- We contact the company or court reporting the disputed information to verify the accuracy. If the information is inaccurate, it will be removed from your company's report. If the information is accurate, it will remain on your company's report.
- We send you a confirmation, which is the final verification of the disputed information, and a copy of your company's verified credit report.
- If your company still disputes the accuracy of the information, you have the right to create a dispute statement that will be appended to your company's credit report.
This process typically takes fewer than 30 days. Experian works to ensure that all information reported on your company is accurate. Our Commercial Relations department has a strong record of responding quickly to the needs of our customers, while maintaining the accuracy of the information in the business credit database.
