Data breach letters referring you to Experian services

Dear Readers,

I’ve recently had a many readers ask about letters they have received from businesses regarding a recent data breach. The letters state that Experian provides monitoring services for the credit reports of consumers whose identifying information may have been breached.

The web site you have been provided in those letters is the correct one for signing up for the service. You are asked to provide all your identifying information so that we can ensure that we are monitoring the correct credit report.

Our customer service representatives cannot provide details about the breaches because they do not have information about which companies were involved in the security breach or specifically why you received this special offer. You will need to call the company using the toll free number provided in the letter if you have additional questions.

Some who have contacted me have had difficulty getting through on the toll free line. When the letters are mailed it sometimes causes their phone service to be overwhelmed, so please be patient. They are trying to assist everyone.

I personally am a member of Experian's alert services and enjoy knowing that I will be contacted if there is any unusual activity regarding my credit reports. I hope that if you chose to accept the offer that you enjoy it as well.

Thanks for reading.
