Simmons' discretionary spend estimate helps marketers understand how much U.S. households spend annually on discretionary goods and services. This includes items such as alcohol, education, reading, personal care, apparel, dining out, donations, household furniture, and numerous forms of entertainment. This innovative estimate leverages Experian® data, econometric data and survey data with proprietary analytics to represents an estimate in actual dollars.


The discretionary spend estimate in the Simmons national consumer study and Simmons national hispanic consumer study, with over 60,000 consumer variables, provides the necessary insight for consumer targeting, profiling and segmentation efforts by giving marketers a new layer of transparency into how much their consumer targets spend on nonessential expenses.
