The Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card has an easy-to-understand rewards program and few fees—a great combo if you're looking for a travel rewards card. You can also transfer the miles you earn to partner airlines' frequent flyer programs, a rare feature among travel cards that don't charge an annual fee.
Several other travel rewards cards offer more enticing rewards and benefits for frequent or luxury-seeking travelers. And if you don't plan on transferring the miles you earn, you'll likely be better off with a cash back card that doesn't charge an annual fee. But if a travel rewards card with no annual fee is your top priority, this could be the card for you.

|Travel rewards program that's simple to understand and use||Lower rewards rate on purchases than other travel and cash back cards|
|Ability to transfer rewards to airline miles or use them for travel statement credits||Requires good to excellent credit|
|A lengthy introductory 0% APR offer on purchases||Miles transfer to frequent flyer programs at less than a 1-to-1 rate|
|No annual fee or foreign transaction fees|
The Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card is a flat-rate rewards card that doesn't charge an annual fee. While the rewards rate isn't especially high—just 1.25 miles per $1 spent on most purchases—you can choose to redeem your points for a travel statement credit or transfer them to a partner frequent flyer program.
There's also a small intro bonus, introductory 0% APR promotional rate and few fees with this card. While other rewards and travel cards may offer more attractive benefits with similarly few fees, you don't have to be a frequent or luxury traveler to reap the rewards this card offers.
Good Rewards for Occasional Travelers
The Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card gives you 1.25 miles per dollar spent on purchases. You can then redeem the miles at a rate of 1 cent each for a travel statement credit if you choose.
You may also be able to redeem your miles for a check, gift cards or account credits toward non-travel purchases, but the value of each point varies with these options. Finally, you can transfer the miles to 15 frequent flyer programs.
Use Miles for Travel Statement Credits
The card's Purchase Eraser feature allows you to use your earned miles to get a travel statement credit for previously purchased travel. The process is simple: You book your travel through your preferred website or travel agent, then go to the Capital One website (or call the Rewards Center) to request an account credit for your purchase. You must redeem your miles within 90 days of making the purchase, and you can use them to pay for all or just part of a travel purchase.
Purchases from the following vendors are generally eligible:
- Bus lines
- Cruise lines
- Car rental agencies
- Limousine services
- Rail lines
- Ridesharing apps
- Taxi cabs
- Travel agencies
Because you make the travel purchase on your own, you don't need to worry about blackout dates or using a specific travel portal when booking travel. Additionally, you'll still earn miles and points in loyalty programs from your travels.
Book Travel With Your Miles
You could also choose to use your miles to book hotels, flights or rental cars on capitalone.com or by contacting the Rewards Center. In this case you'll need enough miles to cover the entire purchase and you might not earn loyalty miles or points from the travel.
Transfer Miles to Frequent Flyer Programs
Transferring miles is potentially the best option, as you may be able to receive greater than a one-cent-per-dollar value from your Capital One miles.
If you transfer your miles to a partner airline's frequent flyer program, you'll generally receive 750 miles for every 1,000 Capital One miles you transfer. But sometimes, you'll only receive 500 miles in the program.
Here are the current transfer partners and their transfer rates:
- Aeromexico Club Premier (2 to 1.5)
- Air Canada Aeroplan (2 to 1.5)
- Air France/KLM Flying Blue (2 to 1.5)
- Alitalia MilleMiglia (2 to 1.5)
- Avianca LifeMiles (2 to 1.5)
- Cathay Pacific Asia Miles (2 to 1.5)
- Emirates Skywards (2 to 1)
- Etihad Guest (2 to 1.5)
- EVA Air Infinity MileageLands (2 to 1.5)
- Finnair Plus (2 to 1.5)
- Hainan Airlines Fortune Wings Club (2 to 1.5)
- JetBlue TrueBlue (2 to 1)
- Qantas Frequent Flyer (2 to 1.5)
- Qatar Airways Privilege Club (2 to 1.5)
- Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer (2 to 1)
To maximize the value of your Capital One miles, you could compare how many miles you'll need to redeem versus how many you'll need to transfer before booking a flight. You can sometimes get an outstanding value by booking a reward flight, particularly if you're looking for business class or first class seats.
No Annual Fee to Consider
You can find many travel rewards cards with and without an annual fee. For some cardholders, an annual fee is a worthy investment, as the credit card's rewards and benefits outweigh the cost.
However, you may not want to pay an annual fee, or you might not use your credit card for enough purchases to justify the cost.
Among travel cards without an annual fee, the Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card's transfer option makes it a standout pick.
However, if you don't plan on transferring the Capital One miles, there are many cash back cards that don't have an annual fee and offer 1.5% to 2% cash back on every purchase. These cards may be more rewarding and more versatile depending on how you plan to use your new card.
Two Offers for New Cardholders
The Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card offers an intro bonus after you complete a minimum spend on purchases during your first three months as a cardholder. New cardholders also receive an introductory 0% APR on purchases. The promotional rate could be enticing if you have large expenses coming up and want to make these purchases and pay them off over time without paying interest.
Valuable Cardholder Perks
As a cardholder, you'll have access to services and receive additional protections on your Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card purchases. These could include:
- 24-hour travel assistance: Get immediate help from Capital One, including an emergency replacement card if your card is lost or stolen and an option to take out a cash advance.

Additionally, Capital One can send you a text or email or call you if it believes there's suspicious activity in your account.
Capital One also built Eno, an automated program that can help you manage your account. You can request virtual card numbers from Eno and use these keep your card's information secure while shopping online. Eno will also look for duplicate purchases, an increase in a recurring bill or an unusual charge (such as a large tip on a restaurant bill) and notify you if it detects something.
Mobile Access to Your Account
You can use the Capital One mobile app to manage your account from your phone.
The mobile app allows you to see which merchants you frequently shop at, chat with Eno, pay a bill, check one of your credit scores, add an authorized user to your account, check your balance and review recent transactions.
|Purchase APR: 0% on purchases for 12 months that your account is open|
After that it will be 13.74% - 23.74% (Variable), depending on your creditworthiness
|Grace period: 25 days|
|Transfer APR: 13.74% - 23.74% (Variable), depending on your creditworthiness||Annual fee: $0|

You can add a family member or friend as an authorized user on your account and they'll receive a credit card that's tied to your credit line. Although authorized users can use their card for purchases, and you'll earn rewards on those purchases, the bill is ultimately your responsibility.
It only takes about a minute to add an authorized user to a Capital One credit card. To do so, you'll need to contact Capital One (you can use the website or mobile app) and share the person's name, phone number and date of birth. You may also need their Social Security number and address. Capital One will then send the person a card linked to your account.
You can also remove a person from your account if you change your mind later.
