Home-equity line originations increase in Q2 2010

After declining for six of the past seven quarters, home–equity line originations increased in Q2 2010, as $21 billion in new lines were extended to borrowers in the quarter. Although this increase is noteworthy, the longer–term reduction in home–equity line lending is staggering when compared with previous years. For example, $87 billion in new lines were originated in Q3 2007, more than four times the level of today's market.
