White House releases draft strategy to fight online fraud |

Challenges with online identification have gained attention from policymakers as the White House released a draft strategy, called the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace. The strategy is intended to develop policy to reduce cybersecurity vulnerabilities and improve online privacy protections. However, the draft falls short of identifying current industry practices, including the use of knowledge–based authentication. Missing from the strategy are references to current practices in the identity authentication and fraud protection industry, including recognition of the robust information–sharing systems necessary for these purposes.
