Metropolitan areas included were in the top 25th percentile based upon the number of businesses in each major industrial group.
How were the metropolitan areas ranked?
Each metropolitan areas included were ranked on how well they scored in each of the following credit categories compared to the rest:
- Risk Score — The average Experian IntelliScorePlusSM risk score of the businesses (100 indicating lowest risk and 1 indicating highest risk) in a metropolitan area
- Days Beyond Terms — The weighted average number of days that business payments are past due in the metropolitan area (The lower the weighted average number of days the better)
- Delinquency — The average percentage of delinquent dollars for businesses in the metropolitan area (The lower the percentage the better)
- Bankruptcy — The average rate of businesses filing for legal protection under Chapters 7, 11, 12 or 13 of the bankruptcy code in the metropolitan area (The lower the percentage the better)
