Royal Wedding Fever? US Interest Falls Below UK, Canada and New Zealand
The Guardian and The Independent are at loggerheads over whether Americans are bored with the Royal Wedding or utterly enthralled. But which newspaper is on the mark? Judging by Experian Hitwise search data, it seems that neither is quite right. It’s no surprise to see that web-users in the UK are performing more than twice as many searches about Kate Middleton, Prince William and the Royal Wedding as the next closest markets, Canada & New Zealand. The most interested populaces are in Commonwealth Nations, though web-users in the former UK colonies of Hong Kong and India buck that trend.

Searches for all variations of “Royal Wedding” are about on par with those for variations of “Kate Middleton” in most markets over the past 12 weeks. Web-users across markets indicated particular interest in Ms. Middleton’s beauty and style. However, observing the data at a weekly level, it is clear that as web-users in the US have begun to gear up for the nuptials themselves, they are increasingly searching for variants of “Royal Wedding”.

In the week before the wedding, web-users in the US are trying to find out where and when they can watch the wedding, regardless of whether it will be 8pm (AEST) or 3am (PST) where they live.

@Heather Dougherty
I am from India. If I talk about India so people are more crazy about this wedding. Who does not like to know about such a great wedding about this century?
