Holiday Shopping Coupon Searches
Visits to retailers have been higher each week during the 2010 holiday season as compared to last year (8% increase for the week ending Dec. 18th, 2010) and coupled with the higher traffic are searches for coupons and promotional codes. Shoppers have become accustomed to so many deals and discounts being available, that they quickly execute a search before completing a purchase to make sure they are not missing an opportunity for additional savings. Overall, searches for coupons and promotions that include the name of a retailer (e.g. JCPenney coupons or Amazon promotional code) have increased each week during the holiday season as compared to last year. The highest increases took place last week, which included Free Shipping Day and many shipping deadlines and the week which included Cyber Monday.

Interesting data. Surprised the month-to-month increase is so modest (highly visible) this year.
Very interesting. Not only are consumers searching for brands online, they are now searching for brand-related coupons as well. Is it time to start optimizing and/or monitoring our brands for coupon-/promotion-related searches?
