Prepaid mobile searches on the rise

With unemployment rates remaining high and consumers looking to cut costs, prepaid and pay as you go mobile plans have increased in popularity to avoid another monthly expense. A recent study released by the New Millennium Research Council (NMRC), the prepaid segment of the overall wireless market in the U.S. grew 54% during Q409, compared with 3% growth for contract-based plans during the same period. There was significant growth for searches related to prepaid wireless plans during 2009 from the previous year. Searches for a portfolio of terms related to ‘Prepaid and Pay As You Go’ wireless options also increased – 33% for the 4 weeks ending March 27, 2010 year-over-year and 91% when compared to the same time frame in 2008 before the recession started.

The top 3 websites to benefit from the prepaid searches during Q1 2010 (12 weeks ending March 27, 2010) are Verizon Wireless, AT&T Wireless, and T-Mobile’s Online Store. Each received both the highest share of search clicks overall and were the most reliant upon paid search traffic among the top ten. Two content websites, Prepaid Reviews and About Cellular Phones and Pagers also made the top 10 as consumers seek information and reviews about prepaid wireless plans.

  2. I think people realize that they can save money when they use prepaid. It helps to control the usage and the cost of their mobiles. They can cut their expenses and just use it whenever it’s needed.

  3. It is not impossible mobile is the primary gadget that use by almost all of us. Using a mobile prepaid they can save some money and keep it in a safe way also, its very easy to use even student can use it. Using mobile prepaid makes many thing easier specially on money.
