Blood and Gas?

I know sounds a little gory, it’s late in the day, but I just had to put this chart together. Steven Levitt (of Freakonomics fame) was kind enough to link to my post yesterday on rising gas prices and searches for “gas prices” here (the Freakonomics blog is one of my favorites by the way). Interestingly enough, Stephen Dubner (co-author of Freakonomics) chimed in with a link to a story from last September about gas stations that were offering free gas in exchange for blood donations to help the Katrina relief effort. I couldn’t resist, so here’s the chart correlating “gas” to “blood” (please pardon the indulgence). There does seem to be some positive correlation, apart from the story, i’m not sure why…
