I love football season (although this weekend was difficult for me). Having recently purchased a new television, I was intrigued by an email from one of my Hitwise colleagues Shane Mullane, regarding searches on the terms “Plasma”, “LCD” and “DLP”.

The interesting news here is that searches for DLP have equaled plasma searches as of last week. Another interesting note is the spike in searches on Plasma in September. I decided to generate a second chart to compare searches on “plasma” to queries on “monday night football” during the start of the season. Hypothesis: start of football season has led to increase interest in Plasma and DLP technologies, but the affordability of DLP has increased its volume of searches to match that of Plasma.
