Snoods, Boots and Snow Chains up after cold spell
The snow may be thawing but the cold weather has had its effect online by encouraging people to buy more winter clothing including jumpers, scarves and boots.
In our latest press release we unveiled the most searched for products on Cyber Sunday where the icy touch of winter had definitely left its mark. Among the top searched for products were Ugg boots, Hunter Wellies, snow boots and Christmas Jumpers.

One of the fastest moving products which didn’t make it into the top 20 list was snoods. The tubular neck scarves have become commonplace among the Arsenal football team and were a big hit last week when the snow was at its worst. Searches for ‘snood’ increased by 216% over the week whilst searches for ‘snood scarf’ and ‘snoods’ both increased by 150%.

The other interesting spike during the last week was for snow chains. Looking at the search term sequence of the word ‘snow’, ‘snow chains’ was the tenth most popular search term searched for immediately after ‘snow’.

The downstream websites for the search term ‘snow chains’ is quite revealing. As you might expect there are a host of snow specialists along with mainstream stores like Halfords. What’s perhaps less expected is Amazon ranking in the top 5.

Although Amazon paid for three quarters of the traffic for the search term, they’ve ranked very highly for a product outside of their core catalogue, further proving that the store is becoming more of a one-stop shop than ever before.

I’d be among the “Ugg Boots” searcher in there. I think they are the best for winters. They keep your feet warm and makes you look great.
