Whenever the sun comes out, us Brits flock to parks, beaches and al fresco restaurants to make the most of that most precious of commodities (in the UK at least): sunshine. As you might expect, our online behaviour also changes with the weather. UK Internet traffic to weather websites always shoots up during bad weather, but there are also more subtle changes.
Following the unseasonably good weather last week, the first thing that many people seem to have thought was ‘let’s go outside and play / work in the garden’. According to our Hot Consumer Electronics List, UK Internet searches for garden tools and furniture more than trebled last week. Here are the top 10 search terms in the category, week ending 21 March 2009:
