I have had a name changed, but kept the same Social Security number. However, when getting a credit card I was declined due to having no credit history. My prior name had credit history. Do you know why this would happen?
I was approved for a credit card in October 2013. I have never exceeded the limit and have made all payments on time. I just received a notice that they are reducing my credit limit to the same amount as my current balance on the card. The reasons state, “Derogatory public record information, too few accounts currently paid as agreed, length of time of credit established, and lack of recent installment loan information.” One of the other credit reporting companies will not release a free credit report. This doesn’t seem right to me. What should I do?
I recently tried to apply for a car loan. They told me I was denied because they could not find any of my credit history information. I have a few credit cards from department stores, so I’m not sure why this happened. What can I do to have my information updated?
My husband and I had our bankruptcy discharged in March 2012. We are still getting refusals for any type of credit we have tried to apply for, no matter how small. We have one credit card we have never been late on. It has a limit of only $1,500.00, and we have always paid it off so have not been charged any interest. Our denials all state “due to public record.”
I was denied credit based on a credit report from Experian. Can I order a free credit report online from Experian if I have already used my free annual credit report within the last 12 months?
I have been denied credit. Can I get a free copy of my credit report?
