There are four accounts missing on my report, and the one account listed has the wrong creditor’s name on the account. What can I do to correct this?
It is important to know that creditors are not required to report account information to the credit reporting companies. If they do chose to report, creditors may report to only one or two and not all three.
If you have already obtained a copy of your credit report directly from Experian and have verified that the accounts in question are not appearing, contact your creditors directly to inquire whether or not they report to any of the credit reporting companies.
Sometimes the name that creditors use to report their accounts to Experian is different than the name you know them by. They may use an abbreviated form of their name when reporting. The account also could be reported under the name of the bank used to finance the account, rather than the name of the retail store or the company name that appears on your credit card.
