As a small business, how do I report to credit agencies a judgment awarded to us against a tenant?
You do not need to report judgments. They will automatically be added by the credit reporting companies.
The credit reporting companies gather civil court judgments regularly from the courts, either directly or through third party services. Judgments are then added to credit reports and remain for seven years from the filing date.
Changes to the status of the judgments also will be collected from the court filings. For example, if the settlements are paid, the new payment status will be updated in the credit report.
Thanks for asking.
